The Alliance Francaise Street Music Festival has developed into a signature event in the Metro of Nelson Mandela Bay and was initially staged in 2010 by the Alliance Francaise of Port Elizabeth.
It is based on the Fête de la Musique which originated in France in 1982, and coincides with the winter solstice in June every year.

This event is celebrated in cities throughout France every year.
The Alliance Francaise of Port Elizabeth, which has had its premises in Richmond Hill since 1990, introduced this contemporary French tradition in the Richmond Hill area in order to promote the French culture and language as well as the cultural diversity present in the city by means of a combined musical extravaganza.

This vibrant music festival has proven over the past six years that Port Elizabeth has an enormous base of varied musical talents and tastes as well as residents and visitors to our city who love to support local events of this nature and who have come to look forward to it as a top calendar event.
This festival has evolved into a tradition in the Richmond Hill neighborhood which is not to be missed.
